Lum~! (And other UY drawings for UY week)
So someone on Tumblr started an Urusei Yatsura art week, and while I am VERY out of practice when it comes to drawing, I LOVE UY with all my heart....so I wanted to participate.
Here's the Lum I drew, in a more "cute" style? (I think I was channeling Kenichi Sonoda a little? lol I dunno, I did it late at night.)

Re: Lum~!
SO...SO...SO CUTE!
I have to say, I really have no idea how to find my way through a computer illustration program. I did try to practice a little back when I was still in college, which was, oh...sometime around 2005...but I am guessing I'm way out of date. I wouldn't know how to scan and color my drawings if my life depended on it. Or draw using a tablet.

I've tried to use a tablet before and I just can't get used to it, I admire people who can...it's not as easy as it looks!
I actually managed to do a new drawing for today's Urusei Yatsura day, which is supposed to be of your favorite couple in the series:

(No surprise, I love these two, lol. XD)

These look really great!
I think you handled the shadows/lighting very well; that tends to be something I struggle with. Very nice work!

Today's theme for Urusei Yatsura week is "favorite minor character", and I couldn't pick just one--so here's Kotatsu Neko and a Dappya, together! XD

That look of confusion is perfect!usamimi wrote:Today's theme for Urusei Yatsura week is "favorite minor character", and I couldn't pick just one--so here's Kotatsu Neko and a Dappya, together! XD

Yeah, anime lighting and shading is a bit tricky, especially in regards to hair.Kame-Sen'nin wrote:These look really great!![]()

Usamimi, you do a really good job with that, especially on Lum.
Since I have no real grasp of coloring utensils or computer coloring, I tend to only draw with black and white in mind when thinking of lighting, so if I try to apply lighting effects on any anime character I draw, it would probably look more like a Sin City comic.

Hey, everyone's got their own unique style! Use what you got, lol.
Today's theme for UY Week is "most relatable character". While I like to think I share a lot in common with Lum, I do find myself relating to Sakura a lot more (especially as I get older, haha.) So here is a grumpy looking Sakura:

Re: Lum~!
Aaaaaaaaaand for the last day of Urusei Yatsura week, the theme was "crossover", so I drew Lum in the style of Akira Toriyama's "Dr. Slump"! (Which was actually kind of hard?? but I think it turned out well!)

If you can guess how I tied these two characters together, you get a cookie, lol. XD (The hint is in the Japanese on the drawing~)
