Sorry I'm late, what did I miss?

Greetings one and all from London, England; I come in peace with a fascination of what anime and its fandom used to be.

Like a lot fans of anime born in the 90s here, my introduction to it was through Cartoon Network's after-school Toonami programming block with shows like Gundam Wing, Tenchi Muyo! and of course, Dragon Ball Z, which with the recent extension of Resurrection ‘F’ cinema screenings here, is clearly still a staple for many, including myself.

I arrived to the Lounge, perhaps as most members, by way of the AnimePast site. For someone who was merely a child in the mid-90s, barely cognisant of what was on television let alone anime, this forum is an essential extension of the intriguing content included in the ‘Time Capsule’ at the website. It’s allowed me to analyse my appreciation for anime further by exploring the experiences of fans that consumed and celebrated anime back then as well as to discover shows that have been understandably overlooked since, ironically, due to the number of and availability of titles today across the various streaming platforms.

I throughougly enjoyed Tim Eldred and Anime World Order’s interview with veteran fan Robert W. Gibson (rest in peace, I implore those who haven’t already heard it to give both parts a listen) and with a inclination towards the way Japanese animation looked during the mid-90s and prior, I also frequently visit Blacotaku’s Oldtype/Newtype Tumblr blog and aim to visit titles from that period appearing there and in Justin Sevakis' Buried Treasure column at Anime News Network.

I very much look forward to continue learning, communicating and contributing (where possible) on this forum about the old school’s fandom and want to take this opportunity to thank Daniel and everybody else who have made the AnimePast site and The Old School Otaku Lounge an actuality.

Nice to see you, welcome to the forums! Blacotaku1 (Oldtype/Newtype) is actually a member here, but he doesn't post often. I should try and get him to return. Isn't his site great?
